I believe design comes in all elements, cooking and food being a huge inspiration for me.  We all can taste the creativity in a good recipe. Georgia Brown has found her calling in baking and cooking and I am thrilled to have this connection with her. She is a special person in my life, and I am excited to share her passion with you on Pearly Peacock Design blog.  Enjoy these holiday treats and stay tuned for future installments from Georgia Brown and go follow her instagram cooking page @the_baking_bar08.

This Peppermint Bark recipe is a great at-home activity to do with kids over the holidays. Thanks, Georgia!

Georgia’s Peppermint Bark

-1 Bag Chocolate (Milk or Dark, your preference) Candy Coating

-1 Bag White Chocolate Candy Coating

-1 Box Candy Canes

-Pretzels of your choice

-Peppermint Extract

  1. Finely crush 5 candy canes. This can be done in a food processor or with a plastic storage bag.

  2. Now, gently crush ¾ cup of pretzels, making certain that the pretzels are not crushed to the point where they are dust.

  3. In a microwave safe bowl, melt 4 blocks of chocolate candy coating in 30 second increments, until smooth.

  4. Stir in ½ teaspoon of peppermint extract to the melted chocolate

  5. In the same bowl, incorporate ¼ cup of crushed pretzels and ⅓ of the crushed candy canes with the melted chocolate.

  6. Transfer mixture to a greased or parchment paper-lined half sheet pan, smoothing out the chocolate across the pan to ensure a crisp bark.

  7. Now melt 1 block of the white chocolate candy coating until smooth, again in 30 second increments in a microwave

  8. Using either a piping bag with number 5 tip or a plastic storage bag cut at the corner, drizzle white chocolate across the chocolate on the sheet pan.

  9. Now, top with remaining crushed pretzels and peppermints, to taste.

  10. Insert the sheet pan in a freezer or 15-20 minutes, or until set.

  11. Break the bark apart and enjoy!
